The real hero behind the Watervale Hotel is our own organic and biodynamic Penobscot Farm. The Chef’s aim to enhance and enrich the produce, delivering as much fresh onto the plate as possible. The rest is preserved, pickled, dehydrated, fermented, made into sauce, ice-cream or sorbet to augment the menu.This Penobscot Farm tour is guided by one of theirr Chefs, sharing their view of their farming practices.
After the Farm Tour guests are transported back to the Watervale Hotel for a Feed Me menu comprising of snacks, three savoury courses, plus dessert.
Guests sit at the Chef’s Table in the kitchen so their lunchtime experience becomes a tutored Cooking Demonstration.
Each guest can choose their beverage accompaniment at additional cost, choosing from Clare Valley wines by the glass, Clare Valley beer, local Gin and a range of non-alcoholic choices. We have created a range of mocktails designed to mimic characteristics of wine -composed from Warndu native tea mixed with vinegars, syrups and juices from Penobscot Farm produce.
The lunch concludes with a hot beverage and house made cake or pastry at the Watervale General Store.
The Watervale Hotel was awarded '2023 and 2024 Best Culinary Experience in a Hotel Restaurant' in the world by LuxLife Magazine in the UK.
